Puppet Playlist #20: Billy Joel
Puppet Playlist always reminds me of how happy I am to be a part of the puppetry community in NYC. There are so many open-hearted, friendly creators who perform in and who run this show.
This Puppet Playlist was particularly fun for me for several reasons:
-My brother Yoshie got together a ridiculous amount of musicians (ridiculously talented ones) and he created fun instrumentations for Billy Joel songs (the xylophone was a very nice touch). I sang with the band for "Travelin' Prayer."
-Chris and I created a new piece to the song "Vienna" and Yoshie and the band played the music for us.
-I puppeteered in Jon Levin & Michael Schupbach's piece about moldy cheese to "The Longest Time."
Puppet Playlist takes brilliant puppeteers and talented musicians and slams them together into an evening of live theater to stir the senses. This Playlist features original works of puppetry inspired by the songs of Billy Joel, mixed with live musical interpretations by some of New York’s awesome singer-songwriters. Puppet Playlist is a presentation of Sinking Ship Productions and The Tank. March 17 at 830pm March 18 at 730 & 930pm
